Wedding Table Decorations

Friday, February 27th, 2009

I am trying to decide on table decorations for my friend’s wedding. She has asked me to look into it for her as she is very busy with everything else. I have been looking at the traditional gift boxes for favors but I am wondering whether to do something a bit different. The flowers are already organised as well as the place cards so really this is the only feature of the table that has not be sorted out. I know that she has chosen some special heart shaped truffles for the guests and so I have been looking at cellophane bags but some of them are really just too plain. It is hard to find any that really match in with her decorations. I am therefore looking for something a bit different. I have wondered about just using a see through bag and tying it with pretty curling ribbon but I think that may look a bit cheap. Thankfully I have come across some very pretty candy bags which match in with her colour scheme and are not too expensive. I think they will be ideal so I will show them to her when I see her later and see what she thinks.

What to Do When You Become Injured From a Faulty Product

Friday, February 27th, 2009

Arizona personal injury lawyers deal with product liability cases everyday. These cases involve individuals who become injured or ill as a result of defective products or auto parts. Unfortunately, defective products make it on the market occasionally, and consumers can become injured from them. Manufacturers are supposed to assure safety with all their products, yet dangerous ones still slip through sometimes.

If you have been injured or are suffering an illness from defective products, then you need to contact an Arizona personal injury lawyer right away. While the product did become your personal property the moment you bought it, the manufacturer can still be held liable. Sometimes the fault lies with the designer, rather than the manufacturer.

Since many products come with proper instructions and even warnings, it may be hard to prove that the manufacturer or designer is truly at fault for negligence. This is why you need Arizona personal injury attorneys to help you make your

case. It may be hard to prove that the product is truly defective, and that the either the manufacturer or designer is at fault. Make sure that you seek advice and help from the best Arizona personal injury lawyer you can find so that your case will be handled properly.

Collapsing stars’ theory draws global attn

Friday, February 13th, 2009

The theory of ‘naked singularity’ of collapsing stars given by Indian astrophysicists has drawn global attention as it might change the basic tenets of ‘Blackhole’.

The issue of collapsing stars holds secrets in human’s search for a unified understanding of all forces of nature.

The Indian scientific work on the final fate of massive collapsing stars, titled as ‘Naked singularities’ has been featured in the cover story of the recent issue of an international magazine ‘Scientific Americans’.

The prediction, if discovered, will open up a vast number of exciting possibilities in fundamental physics and cosmology, said the author of the paper Pankaj Joshi from Mumbai.

The collapse of massive stars is inevitable in the universe which creates ’singularities’ as described by Albert Einstein’s theory.

CEOs blamed for computer attacks at workplaces

Thursday, February 12th, 2009

It’s the CEOs who are responsible for any data that has leaked because of unprotected networks in offices, say technology experts. In order to prevent the network from viruses and hacker attacks, most companies insist their computers are “locked down” so that employees can’t run unauthorised software or CD and DVD content.

But the same rule doesn’t apply to the senior leaders of a company.

“But woe betide the lowly IT director that would inconvenience the CEO with such restrictions,” New Scientist magazine quoted Glenn Zimmerman, a technology expert with the Pentagon’s cyberspace task force, as saying.

Warning a London conference on Cyber Warfare, he said that “most senior leaders’ computers are often wide open to threats,” and that it was often the CEO who held the most critical data.

Cyberwar analyst Yael Shahar of the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya, Israel, suggested that the best way to deal with this threat from within is to hack their computers and show them what you find.

“They may close the door and show you out, but their security awareness will have gone up a notch,” she said.

Zimmerman said that the solution would be to use less arduous security measures.

He pointed out that locking down PCs made tech-savvy users to find workarounds, which introduce vulnerabilities.

“The only totally secure computer is one that is switched off, filled with concrete and dropped to the bottom of the Mariana trench,” he said.

Mitigation of greenhouse gases slowed: FICCI

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009

Lacunae in the current Clean Development Mechanism framework has slowed down efforts to address greenhouse gas mitigation and sustainable developmental objectives, according to a FICCI report calling for a CDM-friendly regime.

In its report released today, Climate Change Task Force deliberated in detail on the lacunae in the present CDM system which otherwise it noted was a “most effective, positive action mobilising industry engagement in mitigation action.”

“Despite the growth of the Indian project pipeline, there have been difficulties along the way due to cumbersome, lengthy approval process for CDM projects. The mechanism needs to be transformed from an offsets to offsets plus reduction mechanism. Also a healthy demand and supply balance of Carbon credits needs to be ensured,” former union environment secretary Pradipto Ghosh, who chaired the task force told reporters.

He said speedy clearance of projects at the international level, greater efficiency and transparency in CDMs in the process and governance, more service providers in the market through relaxation of designated entities (DoEs) eligibility criteria as well stability of demand for carbon credits.

For instance as there are only seven DoEs globally while as many as 2148 projects are waiting for approval of which around 748 are from India, Ghosh said.

The task Force also called for reforms in technology transfer as well as financial sector to help developing nations tackle threats from climate change.

“There is a need for reforms in IPRs regime and setting up of a publicly funded global venture fund besides technology sharing among developing countries,” Ghosh said.

FICCI chairman Amit Mitra said the exhaustive report which presents Indian business perspectives on climate change negotiations will be presented to the government for further action.

Intel says to shift 2,000 jobs out of Shanghai

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

Intel Corp announced on Thursday a reorganisation of its China operations that would close a Shanghai plant and eliminate 2,000 jobs, while affected workers would be offered positions in other parts of the country.

The news comes just days after the world’s largest chipmaker said it would close plants in Malaysia, the Philippines and the U.S., cutting as many as 6,000 jobs as quarterly profit tumbled 90 percent.

“In order to optimize its manufacturing resources in China, Intel plans to consolidate Assembly and Test operations (ATM) from Pudong to Chengdu over the next 12 months,” the company said in a statement.

Intel said it would provide the affected employees an option to work at the Chengdu facility in the west, or Dalian in the north, both more than 1,000 kilometres from Shanghai.

“The decision to relocate is up to the employees,” said Nancy Zhang, an Intel spokesperson in Beijing. Zhang said she was not aware of any subsidies or other incentives that employees who choose to relocate would receive.

An Intel employee who attended the meeting in Shanghai where Brain Krzanich, president of Intel’s Manufacturing and Supply Chain group, announced the job losses said workers were upset about the need to move to keep their jobs.

Intel said it was committed to China, nevertheless, and would increase its registered capital in Intel China Ltd., the company’s investment holding company based in Shanghai, by $110 million.

Intel said the moves were necessary “as a result of the current economic conditions” and that its investment in the new $2.5 billion Dalian factory would be increased in order to insure that it has the latest advanced chip technology.

After Intel’s assembly and test facility is closed in Shanghai, the eastern port city will still be home to an Intel research and development centre and the firm’s China headquarters.
